19th century 4 oz Patent Medicine Bottle. Front profile: 3-3/4" (9.52 cm) tall body and a 1-3/8" (3.49 cm) long, 3/4" (1.90 cm) wide neck with a standard tooled finish for a cork closure that's 3/16" (0.47 cm) thick. The front of this bottle from a top or bottom view is half an ellipse front plate (label panel) with flat back and flat angled sides. The body's back and side plates have an arch at the low curving shoulder with mold seams across the shoulder and down the sides. The back plate has an embossed area with arch at the top. The arch above the back plate has the number "4" and below that the words embossed, "THE PEOPLE'S DRUG STORE HOWARD CITY, MICH."
Base and bottom: Base is 2" (5.08 cm) across, 1-3/8" (3.49 cm) wide with a Chicago oval style bottom. Three flat side plates with a curved front label panel. The curving push-up creates a 1/2" (1.27 cm) heel. The bottom is embossed with the words "PAT APPLD FOR" "D. F & D."
Proofs: The Chicago oval stye and bottom embossing show this popular bottle design was patented on in 1888 and
Dean, Foster & Dawley closed by 1893. The design was patented by Adelbert M. Foster, Design Patent No. 18,309 and continued to be listed in the A.M. Foster 1907 catalog.

Early 20th century 4 oz oval style druggist medicine bottle with a flanged finish. Front profile: 5-1/2" (13.97 cm) height,
4-1/4" (10.80 cm) tall body and a 1" (2.54 cm) tall, 3/4" (1.90 cm) wide neck with a flat top flanged finish
for a cork closure with a 1" (2.54 cm) outside diameter. The narrow neck ends at a 1/4" (0.63 cm) thick top ring.
The base is 2" (5.08 cm) across, 1-1/4" (3.17 cm) wide. There is a push up that copies the outside shape with no
embossing on the bottom. A small number "4" is at the top of the body on the slightly inward curving back side.
Proofs: This bottle design is similar to a late 19th early 20th century Manhattan Oval druggist bottle patented Jan 5th 1892 by
Whitall Tatum Company Millville, New Jersey.

Early 20th century 7 oz Olympia Style Flask Bottle that may have contained an alcoholic drink such as whiskey. Front profile: 5" (12.7 cm) tall body and a 1" (2.54 cm) long, 7/8" (2.22 cm) wide neck with a standard tooled finish for a cork closure that's 1" (2.54 cm) diameter. The narrower base angles up to the top of the body with a slightly embossed line across the arch where it meets the shoulder. The narrow neck ends at a 1/4" (0.635 cm) thick collar and flaring lip finish. There are side mold seams that meet at a seam that follows around the heel. The embossing on the bottom is inside a push up in the heel. The base is 2 -1/2" (6.35 cm) across, 1-1/4" (3.175 cm) wide. The bottom is embossed with the words "DESIGN PATENTED PAT.AUG.9,1898"
Proofs: The design was patented in August 1898 by the Illinois Glass Company (Alton, IL.).

Early 20th century 6 oz Baltimore Oval Flask Bottle that may have contained an alcoholic drink such as whiskey.
Front profile: 4-3/4" (12.06 cm) tall body and a 3/4" (1.90 cm) long, 3/4" (1.90 cm) wide neck with a double ring tooled finish for a cork closure with a 7/8" (2.20 cm) outside diameter. The slightly narrower base angles up to the top of the body with flattened sides (strap sides) that creates raised bands that come to a point at the bottom of the neck. The body curves inward from the sides, a common feature of flasks. The narrow neck ends at a 1/8" (0.31 cm) thick ring and 3/8" (0.93 cm) top ring with cork closure. There are two side mold seams cleverly hidden on each side of the flattened bands that start at the seam around the heel and meet at the seam on the neck. The base is 2-5/8" (6.67 cm) across,1-1/4" (3.17 cm) wide. There is a push up that copies the
outside shape with no embossing on the bottom.
